Kevin attended Mortuary Science School in Milwaukee, and upon graduation and state board exams, he became a licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer in 1992. Kevin expanded his experience by working for a large funeral firm in Milwaukee, which was the same firm his father, Jim, had worked at 20 years earlier. Kevin also practiced at a funeral home in Green Bay for a year before moving back to Tomahawk to work for his dad. He has been serving the Tomahawk area and all of the Northwoods for over 33 years.
Kevin is married to Melinda (Nick) Krueger and she, too, comes from a family background involving funeral service in Tomahawk . The Nick's were a pioneer family of Tomahawk. They owned and operated Nick & Sons Funeral Home, William Nick Funeral Home, Nick & Sons Casket Factory and Nick & Sons Furniture Store, all of Tomahawk, until the retirement of Melinda's father, Tom Nick, and her uncle, Ted Nick. Melinda is the Grief Support Coordinator at Generations.
Kevin and Melinda have three sons, Kevin's Step-Son, Zach Nick, is a graduate of Fox Valley Technical Institute and is currently employed by his Dad at Schoone Construction in Tomahawk. Melinda & Kevin's twin boys, Klayton Emil and Kollin James, recently graduated from Tomahawk High School in 2017. They are now assisting their Dad, and Aunt Karri at Generations. They represent the 5th generation in the Krueger Family and the 5th generation in the Nick Family to work in the funeral business.
Kevin, Melinda and their Sons are lifelong members of St. Mary's Catholic Church; where Kevin is a former Chairperson of the Pastoral Council. He is a member of St. Mary's School Endowment Committee and is a member of the Knights of Columbus. Kevin, Melinda, and all three sons attended St. Mary's Catholic School. Kevin followed his grandfather, Emil, and his dad, Jim and became a firefighter with the Tomahawk Fire Department in 1997. He currently is a Captain on TFD. Kevin serves on the Planning & Zoning Commission and the Disaster Preparedness Committee for the City of Tomahawk.

Jim was born and raised in Tomahawk and a 1966 graduate of Tomahawk High School. He later attended the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science in Milwaukee. In 1970, Jim returned to Tomahawk and worked for his father, Emil. Jim retired in 2010 but continued serving families at a neighboring funeral home in Minocqua. This year marks 50 years of service for Jim in the funeral business. He has three children, Kevin (Melinda), Karri (Darrin), and Kelli (Levi), and six grandchildren, Zach, Klayton, Kollin, Baylee, Morgan, and Landon. Jim recognizes that his former wife, Gwen, is a wonderful friend and an integral part of the family and Generations Funeral Home. Over a 50-year span of living and serving the community in funeral needs, he also served on various community service groups. Presently, Jim is active on the Sacred Heart Hospital Foundation Board

Karri is a licensed life insurance agent and a certified funeral pre-planner. She is married to Darrin who is employed at Harley-Davidson. They have two daughters, Baylee and Morgan. Karri brings years of office experience to the family funeral home and serves as the business manager of Generations. She is a graduate of Tomahawk High School and a graduate of Madison Business College. She is a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Melinda is a life-long resident of Tomahawk. She comes from a family of funeral professionals too. Her Great-Grandfather, Jacob Nick., Sr., opened one of the first funeral homes in Tomahawk in 1889. Melinda worked in health care for 24 years. First as an EMT/Emergency Room Technician at Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital for almost 20 years. Later, she worked for Aspirus in Wausau and Merrill as a medical assistant. Melinda is a past recipient of the 2008 Tomahawk Community Leadership Award for her work as the coordinator of the Tomahawk Mock Car Crash for the Tomahawk High School upperclassmen. This event demonstrates to the students the dangers of driving under the influence and/or distracted driving. For over 20 years, she has continued to organize this bi-annual event bringing over seven agencies together. Melinda feels privileged to come alongside grieving individuals and families with support and resources as they walk the difficult journey of learning to live without their loved ones. Melinda is married to Kevin Krueger and they have three sons, Zachary Nick, Kollin, and Klayton. They are lifelong members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Michael "Gus" Caylor has worked in funeral service for over 20 years, having become a licensed funeral director apprentice in 2021. Gus is well known in Merrill and Lincoln County as he worked as a 911 operator at the sherriff's office for nearly 30 years. Gus had worked for a funeral home in Merrill, but recently parted ways after the funeral home was bought out by a large corporation. In the summer months, you can find him and his wife, Valerie at Normal Park every Thursday evening as they put on live concerts as a part of Gazebo Nights. Gus and Valerie are members of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and enjoy running the fair stand every summer to benefit the church. He is also a member of the Pine River Fire Department, where he has served as a captain since the department was formed in 2005. Gus and Val also love to travel, making regular trips to Florida and having went to Italy in 2023. Gus looks forward to continuing to serve families in the Tomahawk and Merrill area from Generations Funeral Home & Crematory, which is a locally family owned funeral home.


Kollin James Krueger is a lifelong resident of the Tomahawk area. His parents are Kevin and Melinda Nick-Krueger. He is the Great Grandson of Emil H. Krueger on his dad's side and Great Great Grandson of Jacob Nick, Sr. on his mom's side. He and his brother, Klayton, represent the 5th generation in the Krueger family and the 5th generation in the Nick family to work in the funeral business in Tomahawk. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, and is a 2017 graduate of Tomahawk High School Kollin is a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Kollin is a great asset to Generations and with his caring and compassinate personality, will be a big help for many years to come.

Klayton Emil Krueger is a lifelong resident of the Tomahawk area. His parents are Kevin and Melinda Nick-Krueger. He is the Great Grandson of Emil H. Krueger on his dad's side and Great Great Grandson of Jacob Nick, Sr. on his mom's side. He and his brother, Kollin, represent the 5th generation in the Krueger family and the 5th generation in the Nick family to work in the funeral business in Tomahawk. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, and is a 2017 graduate of Tomahawk High School. Klayton is a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church; where he was a mass server. Klayton is a truly gifted video editor and along with his technical experience, and attention to detail, will be a great asset to Generations for many years to come.
