Obituary for Robert Andrew Ott

Robert Andrew Ott, age 90, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Aspirus Hospice House, in Wausau, WI, of Congestive Heart Failure. Robert was born in Milwaukee, WI, on October 29, 1928, to the late Arthur and Margaret Ott. He graduated from Waukesha High School and married his wife, Virginia Moore. They were married for 64 years before her death in 2012.

Robert worked in retail for the FW Woolworth’s company for 35 years of his career. He ran his own Ben Franklin store for 3 years, and finished his career opening and managing Warehouses for Ingram Entertainment. Robert’s career took him and Virginia throughout the Midwest living in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Colorado, Arizona, and Illinois. Robert and Virginia retired to the Wisconsin Northwoods in 1998 where he continued to live until just last May. He loved his family and friends; was a good listener, and he liked bringing people together. Robert ran the Pier Willow Senior Group for many years.
In his earlier days, Robert enjoyed hunting and was a member of Rib Mountain Bowman’s Club. In his later years, he enjoyed anything to do with living at the lake and welcoming visitors.

Survivors include his children, Andrew (Jacquelyn), Steven (Connie), Jane Marie (Michael) Rief, and Brian (Suzanne);

His sister, Carol Kutz;

1 brother, Donald (Shirley) Ott; and

1 brother-in-law, Robert Hall.

Robert is further survived by 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, Heather Morrissey (Robert Makela), Brennan, Maya, and Alton; Jeffrey (Jennifer), Ashley and Evelyn; Daniel; Jason (Deona), Riley and Ava; Joey, Jazmin and Josie; Robert (Rachel Kimpton), Jill (Matt) Priebe, Cohen; Jennifer (Adam) Hammad, Harrington and Gwendolyn; Jonathan (Samantha) Rief, Theodore; Joseph; Julia Rief (Michael Larson); Keith (Vanessa); Gina (Chris) Kallenbach, Logan Lassiter, Zelda.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; his parents, Arthur and Margaret; his wife’s parents, William and Elizabeth Moore; his sister, Lorraine (Bud) Hugg; his brother-in-law, Charlie Kutz; and his wife’s siblings, William (Carolyn) Moore, Rosemary (Vernon) Plinske, Florence (Larry) Nagel, Shirley Coerper, Patricia (Robert) Hathaway, and Colleen Hall.

Funeral Services for Robert Ott will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at 11:00 AM, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Pier Willow. Rev. Louis Reddy Maram Reddy will officiate. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church or Aspirus Hospice House. Our family thanks the many friends and family who visited Bob and the caregivers who helped us to care for him these last 8 months.
