Obituary for Gertrude H. Tresness

Gertrude H. Tresness, age 84, of Tomahawk, WI, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2019, under the care of her family and Ascension at Home / Ministry Home Care Hospice. Gertrude was born on April 20, 1935, in Antigo, WI, to the late Walter and Louise (Fritzsche) Hipke. She was married to Lynne “Sonny” Tresness in 1955; he passed away in 2017.

Gertrude served as the Town of Nokomis Clerk for 8 years. She had numerous hobbies which included painting, crafts, flowers, and watching the birds and squirrels. She played pool for Prairie Rapids Tavern and was a fun-loving member of the Red Hat Society. Above all, Gertrude loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include 3 Sons, William (Cindy) Tresness, of Land O’Lakes, FL, Eric (Gladys) Tresness, of Tomahawk, and Douglas (Lynn) Tresness, of Tomahawk;

1 Daughter, Sue (Jeff) White, of Riverview, FL.

Gertrude is further survived by 6 Grandchildren and 10 Great-Grandchildren, and many Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Walter and Louise; her Husband, Sonny; 1 Son, Dennis; and 2 Brothers, Richard and Robert.

In accordance with Gertrude’s wishes, no formal services will be held. Memorials are appreciated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) Foundation.
